Our Expertise and Services

  • Custom Home Building

There is no better way to get everything you want than working through the design process and building your dream home from start to finish. A new custom home can be the complete removal of your existing structure and building a completely new home or the purchase of land and installing all utility services and then constructing the new home. We provide planning, details, schedules, resources and craftsmanship to get your custom built the way you want it.

  • Design - Build

At Top Shelf Remodeling, we have everything you need under one roof. You don't ever have to try to explain yourself to several different people. At Top Shelf Remodeling you only ever have to deal with one person – me. It's my job to make sure your vision—your dream home—comes to life. That means there is no miscommunication, no "blame games," and no excuses.

Trust me, when you are in the middle of a remodel, the last thing you want to hear is; "well, that wasn't explained to me."

To start with, we use a state of the art technology. We utilize a construction specific CAD program called “Chief Architect” that produces initial floor plans, including doors, windows, plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures, and more.

This program not only renders the initial plans but it also renders your home in color and in full 3D. That means you can “walk through” your new "dream home" and get a real life vision of the finished product—all before we buy a single nail or touch a single tool. That way changes can be made before construction starts, saving you thousands—or even tens of thousands—on costly change orders.

Then we have a full team of dedicated partners for structural engineering, title 24 energy efficiency engineering, master carpenters, electricians, etc. all ready to make your dream a reality. Why do we consult with such a large array of people? Because they keep your project "real." It makes no sense to have a design that is twice your budget or so structurally challenging it does not make sense. When that happens, you have to go back to the "drawing board" and pay thousands to get new plans drawn up.

At Top Shelf, we get everyone on the same page—right from the start. Because you and I work so closely together, it is my job to make your “vision” a reality, to make sure you get the house of your dreams, not of mine. I listen to what you want and I make it happen.

  • Remodels and Additions

One of the best ways to get a “new” home feel without the additional mortgage, property taxes or moving expense is to add additional square footage onto your existing home! The key to adding onto your existing home is to make the new addition flow as an integral part of your existing house. You want people to assume the addition was always part of the design and not an afterthought. We specialize in making all additions blend with the existing home, down to matching existing finishes and making sure floor levels and transitions are smooth and even. Pre-planning and itemized detail are the keys to a successful addition; we are here to help you!

Remodeling allows you to utilize the space you already have by re configuring and or opening up areas to create the style and comfort you desire. Some people love the layout of their house and just want to modernize the appearance by updating the cabinets, plumbing, electrical, paint, etc. Others, want to have a totally different feel to their home which may require eliminating walls, lifting ceilings, and generally re configuring the inside of their home. Both are great options depending on what your needs and wants are.

  • ADU and Outdoor Living

Remodeling a home is a lot easier than renovating. Unfortunately, many home remodelers think they can renovate. It isn't until the damage is done that you realize you were both wrong.

Renovating a home is more art than science. In essence, what you are trying to do in a renovation is to capture the intent and vision of the original designer and architect and bring it back to life.

When you are renovating you just can't rip something out and start from scratch. In a home renovation, you NEED to maintain as much of the original architecture and design as possible. Simply stated, anybody can rip out a window and stick in a new one. It takes highly skilled master craftsmen and artisans to "restore" a home to its grandeur. How you do that, on not just windows but the whole house, is what takes years to master.

Bottom Line: we've been doing renovations in some shape or form for nearly 2 decades. We know the intricacies involved and we guarantee an absolutely stunning final result.
